In Iran, although regional development programs have been developed with the aim of growth and development and creating a balance for specific and deprived regions, but for various reasons, they have achieved less of their ultimate goals. Due to its unique features and potentials, West Azerbaijan Province is one of the important and strategic regions that is of great importance in regional and national development planning and programs. In this regard, this study seeks to evaluate and analyze the characteristics of regional development in this province. First, with the leveling of regional development, the position of the counties in terms of development has been determined, and the results show that there is regional inequality in the development process of the province. Then, based on the characteristics of the spatial and geographical structure of the province, the development of counties with an intra-regional approach in the form of proposed areas have been evaluated and analyzed. The findings indicate that the south of the province is in a more favorable situation in terms of development indicators and in contrast to most deprived counties are located in the north of the province. Finally, considering the current situation and in accordance with the potentials and limitations of the regions, suggestions have been made for balanced regional development. امروزه دستیابی به رشد و توسعة پایدار یکی از مباحث عمدة کشورها، به‌ویژه کشورهای درحال‌توسعه است. در کشور ایران نیز اگرچه برنامه‌های توسعه منطقه‌ای بیشتر با هدف رشد و توسعه و ایجاد تعادل‌های بین‌منطقه‌ای برای مناطق خاص و محروم تهیه شده‌اند، به دلایل مختلف به اهداف نهایی خود که برون‌کرد منطقه از محرومیت است، کمتر دست یافته‌اند. استان آذربایجان‌غربی به‌دلیل ویژگی و پتانسیل‌های منحصربه‌فرد، از جمله مناطق مهم و راهبردی است که اهمیت فوق‌العاده‌ای در برنامه‌ریزی‌های توسعة منطقه‌ای و ملی دارد. در همین راستا، در پژوهش حاضر با رویکرد توصیفی-تحلیلی و با استفاده از تکنیک‌های تصمیم‌گیری چندمعیاره تاکسونومی عددی و تحلیل خوشه‌ای، سعی شده است وضعیت برخورداری و کیفیت توزیع شاخص‌های توسعه در شهرستان‌های این استان ارزیابی و تحلیل شود. نتایج پژوهش نشان می‌دهد که نبود تعادل منطقه‌ای در روند توسعه استان حاکم بوده و ارومیه (مرکز استان) با درجة توسعة 4714/0 توسعه‌یافته‌ترین شهرستان است. در ادامه سعی شد به بررسی دقیق‌تر وضعیت توسعة مناطق استان پرداخته شود. برای نیل به این مهم براساس ویژگی‌های ساختار فضایی و جغرافیایی، توسعه‌یافتگی شهرستان‌ها در قالب منطقه‌بندی پیشنهادی، ارزیابی و تحلیل شد. یافته‌ها حاکی از آن است که جنوب استان از لحاظ برخورداری از شاخص‌های توسعة بررسی‌شده وضعیت مساعدتری از شهرستان‌های شمالی استان دارد. درنهایت با درنظرگرفتن شرایط فعلی و متناسب با پتانسیل‌ها و کمبودهای نواحی، پیشنهادهایی برای توسعة متعادل مناطق استان ارائه شد. https://jurbangeo.ut.ac.ir/article_79873_92408fb4941430505a107fafc992085a.pdf
