An analysis of supplying sustainable social infrastructures at local scale in line with sustainable management (Case study: Yazd city)

Abstract

Nowadays, the role and importance of infrastructure in cities is obvious. Social infrastructure is a subset of infrastructure and is a complex and intertwined network of tangible and intangible assets that enhances the quality of life at the local scale and plays an important role in creating a resilient and sustainable community. However, in our country, due to the lack of suitable infrastructure that response to the needs of stockholders especially in the aspect of the project social dimensions, we are witnessing the loss of assets. This research has been conducted in response to the above necessity and due to the importance of social infrastructure. The main research aim is to provide solutions for supplying sustainable social infrastructures at local scale in order to obtain project sustainability management. The research method is qualitative and the case study is the youth cultural, residential and sports project in Yazd, Iran. The data gathering was conducted using two methods (documentary studies and field studies). The Interviewees were the knowledgeable experts involved in the project or the researchers. Then the qualitative content analysis was used as the analyzing method. The most important suggested solutions in line with project sustainability management and to provide sustainable social infrastructure in infrastructure projects are presented, which are: 1-utilizing professional human resource and adequate equipment, 2-the cooperation between private and public sectors, 3-considering safe and convenient locations for transport systems, 4-planning for future prospects and growing needs, 5-optimal utilization of available facilities, 6-comprehensive Planning agreed by key project factors.
